ਪਸੂ-ਪੰਛੀ (Animals-Birds)

ਭਾਂਭੀਰੀ ਕੇ ਪਾਤ ਪਰਦੋ ਬਿਨੁ ਪੇਖੇ ਦੂਰਾਇਓ ।।

There is a veil between us, like the wing of a butterfly; without being able to see Him, He seems so far away.

ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਡੂਬੀ ਮਾਕੁਰੀ ਭਾਈ ਊਂਡੀ ਸਿਰ ਕੈ ਭਾਰੀ ॥

This is how the spider is destroyed, O brother, by falling over head.

ਜਿਉ ਮਧੁ ਮਾਖੀ ਤਿਉ ਸਠੋਰਿ ਰਸੁ ਜੋਰਿ ਜੋਰਿ ਧਨੁ ਕੀਆ ॥

As the bee collects honey, so does the fool amass and gather wealth with zest.

ਜਉ ਤੁਮ ਗਿਰਿਵਰ ਤਉ ਹਮ ਮੋਰਾ ॥

If You are the mountain, Lord, then I am the peacock.

ਜਉ ਤੁਮ ਚੰਦ ਤਉ ਹਮ ਭਏ ਹੈ ਚਕੋਰਾ ॥

If You are the moon, then I am the Chukar partridge in love with it.

ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਬੂੰਦ ਭਏ ਹਰਿ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਹਮ ਚਾਤ੍ਰਿਕ ਬਿਲਲ ਬਿਲਲਾਤੀ ॥

The Lord, Har, Har, is the rain-drop; I am the pied cuckoo, crying, crying out for it.

ਕਮਲ ਹੇਤਿ ਬਿਨਸਿਓ ਹੈ ਭਵਰਾ ਉਨਿ ਮਾਰਗੁ ਨਿਕਸਿ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ॥

Totally lost in love with the lotus flower, the bumble bee dies, it cannot find the way to escape out of it.

ਜੈਸੇ ਕਾਗਦ ਕੇ ਭਾਰ ਮੂਸਾ ਟੂਕਿ ਗਵਾਵਤ ਕਾਮਿ ਨਹੀ ਗਾਵਾਰੀ ॥

As the rat, gnawing dawn the load of paper, makes it useless, as it is not useful to the foolish rat.

ਹਸਤੀ ਰਥ ਅਸੁ ਅਸਵਾਰੀ ॥

He rides upon elephants, chariots and horses.

ਬਾਰਹ ਜੋਜਨ ਛਤ੍ਰੁ ਚਲੈ ਥਾ ਦੇਹੀ ਗਿਰਝਨ ਖਾਈ ।।
